Our Reviewers

Who are Lytmos reviewers?

Lytmos peer reviewers are highly regarded authorities within their respective fields and include scientists, engineers, university faculty, industry leaders, public servants, and private consultants who meet our exacting standards for delivering timely, substantive evaluations.

The most important reviewer selection criterion is always relevant expertise, as proven by some combination of:

  • education
  • years of experience
  • productivity (such as publishing high quality articles or textbooks, or track record of commercializing new technology)
  • leadership in professional associations
  • prior evaluation service (such as journal editor or review panel member)

Our typical reviewer selection process for each project

  • Identify specific reviewer qualifications and desired areas of expertise
  • Search Lytmos database of reviewers and research new reviewer candidates
  • Qualify reviewers against selection criteria and secure their tentative agreement to serve
  • Present our client with an advance list of prospective reviewers, along with resumes/CVs/bios, for approval
  • Finalize review panel membership

Ensuring high quality evaluations

Our peer review process includes several key ingredients:

  • Delivering clear reviewer orientation and instructions
  • Providing ready technical support during the evaluation process
  • Soliciting immediate clarifications from reviewers whose feedback does not meet our standards
  • Rating each review for quality and timeliness
  • Consulting our reviewer rating database when assembling future review panels

Compensating our reviewers

Lytmos pays reviewers an honorarium (fee) that depends primarily on the expected amount of time required for an evaluation project, and we reimburse them for any incurred expenses.
